Building this program on a Unix-like computer system requires GNU make version 4.4 or above and a recent C11 standard compiler such as GCC or Clang. Successful compilations have occurred on FreeBSD, Linux and MacOS computer systems. Although not allowed by the C standard they are ignored by most compilers. They can be permanently removed by an included perl program: make stripformfeeds
