UNTITLED(1) FreeBSD General Commands Manual UNTITLED(1) NAME untitled – An incomplete Adobe PostScript-compatible LanguageLevel 3 and Display PostScript interpreter for Unix-like computer systems. VERSION This manual is for untitled version 000.006.073 SYNOPSIS untitled [-[d|e|h|i|j|l|m|v]...] [--option[ |=]value ...] [--] [filename|- [argument ...]] DESCRIPTION -d Increases the amount of debugging information displayed for errors. Can be repeated. -e Invokes the interactive executive at the outermost save level. Statements are read from the standard input by %statementedit and executed. This is the default when an input filename has not been specified and the standard input is connected to a terminal. See isatty(3). -h Displays a brief help text. -i Specifies that the interpreter is being used as the interpreter in an interpreter script file. See execve(2). A first line starting with "#!" is expected and ignored then the rest of the file is executed. See -m. For best results invoke the interpreter with env(1). See EXAMPLES. -j Starts a job server which reads and executes jobs in a loop from the standard input. -l Displays version and legal information. -m Reads and executes a single job from the standard input or file at the outermost save level. PostScript errors that are not handled by the job are reported and terminate the interpreter. See EXIT STATUS. This is the default when either an input filename is specified or the standard input is not connected to a terminal. -v Displays version information. --DebugLevel integer (see -d) Amount of debugging information. 0 means none and 1 ... n is more. For details grep(1) the source for DebugLevel. --osFileAccess type (defaults to readonly) Restricts access to files on the os storage device. Sets the non-standard parameter FileAccess in the %os% device parameter set. --MaxOpStack size (0 for unlimited) Size of operand stack. --MaxExecStack size (0 for unlimited) Size of execution stack. --MaxDictStack size (0 for unlimited) Size of dictionary stack. --MaxGlobalVM size (in bytes) Size in bytes of global virtual memory. --MaxLocalVM size (in bytes) Size in bytes of local virtual memory. --VMFileName filename (currently unsupported) Persistent virtual memory image filename. --StartJobPassword string (defaults to empty string) Allows access to startjob and exitserver. --SystemParamsPassword string (defaults to empty string) Overrides StartJobPassword. Allows access to setsystemparams and setdevparams. --startup postscript (writable systemdict) PostScript statement(s) to be executed during startup while systemdict is still writable. --exec postscript (filename (postscript) cvx executeonly exec) PostScript statement(s) to be executed in place of the normal job. The first argument on the operand stack is the filename from the command line. See EXAMPLES. --termination postscript PostScript statement(s) to be executed during interpreter termination. -- Marks the end of argument processing. filename An input filename can be specified as usual or by using the PostScript %device%file form. - is replaced with %stdin. The default is to read from the standard input. Any remaining arguments are stored in an array defined as ARGUMENTS in userdict. See EXAMPLES. IMPLEMENTATION NOTES The interpreter is the outcome of a poietic interpretation of an ongoing critique of the PostScript language based on a close reading of the available Adobe PostScript documentation. See SEE ALSO. ENVIRONMENT untitled does not read or set any environment variables directly. FILES untitled does not use any configuration or resource files. EXIT STATUS untitled exits 0 on success or >0 if the interpreter is terminated prematurely by an unhandled error. EXAMPLES These examples are intended to illustrate possible uses of the interpreter. For PostScript language examples see SEE ALSO. Using --execute to bypass normal job execution: $ untitled --execute '==' (%stdin) An echo utility where env(1) is used to invoke the interpreter and any additional arguments are printed to stdout: #!/usr/bin/env -S untitled -i userdict /ARGUMENTS known { ARGUMENTS {print ( ) print} forall (\n) print } if DIAGNOSTICS PostScript errors and any additional debugging messages are printed to stderr.
